Welcome to the Millburn Sports Activity Foundation

Thank you to the many families who donated to  Phase 1 (new stadium turf field and track 2006) and Phase 2 (2008) of our campaign!    Phase 2 is now complete!  Our second turf field has been installed and is located in the backfield of Millburn High School.  A new softball diamond and the freshman soccer field are also completed!  The security fence will be done shortly, and the JV baseball field will be completed before the end of the fall.

At this time we are finalizing details and plans for the Acknowledgement Area which we hope to unveil at half time of the final home football game, October 24th.
All families are invited to attend this special acknowledgement ceremony!

Special Thanks to MSAF's leader - Ted Bourke

The MSAF members recognize and thank our esteemed President Ted Bourke for his unyielding dedication and leadership to the goals of our mission.  Over the last three plus years, Ted's passion and mission was to inspire community leaders and residents to bring the best athletic facilities to our community.   Two new turf fields, an Olympic size new track, softball diamond, freshman soccer field, and soon to be installed security fence and acknowledgement wall - the Foundation's work is almost done!  Thank you Ted!

History of MSAF
In September, 2006, the TURF GAMES began on the newly constructed all purpose synthetic turf field and track at Millburn High School. The $1.65 million construction was completely funded privately by families and organizations in our community.   MSAF thanks the many families and friends who made this possible.
Phase 2 ($900.00) continued to improve the back field with a newly installed second turf field, a new softball diamond and freshman soccer field.  A security fence and the acknowledgment wall are in the final stages of completion.  We could not have raised the funds needed to underwrite Phase 1 and 2  ($1.65 and $900,00) without the many people who cared about the quality and safety of our athletic facilities.  Thank to the amazing 500 families who funded our campaign!

What is the Millburn Sports Activity Foundation? MillburnSAF, a 501 © non-profit organization was established by Millburn Short Hills residents to raise private funds to revitalize, enhance, and create the multi-purpose athletic facilities in Millburn.

The Millburn Sports Activity Foundation has completed Phase 1 and 2 with the installation of a new stadium turf field and track (phase 1), and in the back fields installed a second turf field, a new softball diamond, and re-graded freshman soccer field.  It has dramatically increased the amount of field time available to  our residents and players in all weather conditions by most sports.
Why now the need for new and enhanced sports facilities? The community had largely run out of outdoor field space to accommodate the increasing number of boys and girls in our township who would like to participate in team sports like lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, and football, baseball and softball at all levels. In addition, upgrading the track and surrounding area allows all residents including seniors and disabled residents to safely utilize the track. The popular back fields at the high school required a comprehensive upgraded plan to ensure they are fully and safely playable for the recreation and high school teams that utilize them.

Why is private funding necessary? Current budget restrictions on the school board and township limit opportunities for improvement and therefore require different sources of non-public funding. To properly improve the current conditions of the fields and track facilities, private funding and volunteer support are necessary. The Millburn Sports Activity Foundation committed and raised  the funding necessary to fund Phase 1 and 2.  MSAF believed this significant investment yields multiple community benefits for current and future generations. The Millburn Sports Activity Foundation has the support of many local residents, private investors, public officials and recreation sports teams and coaches, club teams and coaches, township officials and school administrators. Our hopes were realized when many community residents and families joined in this effort!  Thank you!

The MSAF Phase 1 $1.65 million construction includes completed modification to the Millburn High School Stadium location, a new Olympic size track and turf field. The Turf Games Begin!
